The Tavistock & District Historical Society is a group of volunteers who are brought together by a common interest in the heritage of their community and a desire to foster and preserve memorabilia and memories of local interest.  Our collection includes the Lemp Studio Collection of area photographs from 1890 - 1930;  digitized Tavistock Gazette newspapers; completed histories of many local families; extensive obituary files; researched projects on local schools; oral histories; records for local churches and cemeteries; and so much more.  Of key interest to "Oxford Remembers" is our biographies and photos and stories about the local men and women who served their country in various wars and conflicts.  We have personal histories on over 500 Tavistock and area Veterans.  Many elements of our collection, along with our regular newsletters, can be found on our website at www.tavistockhistory.ca.  The museum/archives is open the third Saturday of each month and other times by appointment.
